Fashion's Night Out Los Angeles

Hello! Omg, I'm so deeply sorry for completely neglecting my blog. You know how teenagers are these days. Constantly dealing with unfortunate piles of midterms, exams, essays, and reading assignments. Oh, and lets not forget working a part-time job at Gap. Sigh, the life of a student. On a serious note, deeply sorry for being M.I.A.. Now, less rambling and more catching up!
(FNO's outfit consisted of keeping it casual. Representin' Gap with this fantastic distressed denim jacket. Blue polo from Marc Jacobs. Color-blocked bag from Cooperative. Metallic silver lace-up shoes from Gucci)
So for Fashion's Night Out LA, I decided, which I regret, to go to the Beverly Center since there was some hype going on about it and my friend attended last year's festivities that consisted of Rachel Bilson. Alas, once I got there I was greeted with disappointment. The only celebrity there that I heard about was one of the younger Kardashian Sisters. Yes, I know, this isn't NY Fashion's Night Out so wtf was I expecting. But, c'mon. If NY is #1 when it comes to FNO, then LA has to be number 2. Plus, LA is known to be the land of celebrities. Where were they? Idk, celebrating and pulling a Lohan at a nearby club probably. After a while of just browsing around, me and my friend Sally left to eat at Urth since I was in desperate need of one of their spanish lattes and a slice of the berries and cream cake.
After devouring a good meal, we then headed down on Melrose to the nearby boutiques. Since we both were on a tight budget, we just browsed and just got samples of snacks and stuff. Yes, we're frugal bitches. We did pop by the BookMarc store, which had this pretty rad light piece, if I can call it that.
You can always count on any of the Marc Jacobs related stores for cheap goodies. Sally ended up buying a really cute notebook where she mentioned she'd write all her lovers' names on there. lol. We both got matching necklaces, that were like $5 each. I was astonished that literally all MJ employees were egging us to take as much as we wanted of the free fingerless gloves they were handing out. Apparently, they ordered an abundance of gloves to hand out and were met with such disappointment that they decided to let everyone take as many as they wanted. I'm literally sitting right here giggling knowing that I have like 5 of those set of gloves in my drawer right now. haha. After that, we just strolled along the street, saw cute guys, saw a familiar drunk face from the night before at Kitchen 24, saw people dressed in some chic outfits, and pretty much just had a good time.

Now, excuse me while I continue to "study" for my textiles and economics exams tomorrow. Oh, did I mention I'm trying to save for this Balenciaga t-shirt from the Fall/Winter 2012 collection?

I know, I'd get the sweater runway version if I could, but homegurl just doesn't have the funds to utilize for such a great purchase. Sigh..

10 Crosby Derek Lam Spring/Summer 2013: A Trip Down to the Wild West

LOVE that 10 Crosby Derek Lam went with the south west as the inspiration this season while also staying true to Derek's edgy, cool personality.
I commented earlier this past week on The Fashion Spot how the collection isn't dowdy at all and that's usually the territory most collections get into when doing such a tricky theme. When doing a wild west collection, it can come off as looking a bit predictable, cliche, and somewhat vile. With this collection, I felt that the clothes still felt perfect for that downtown woman. Nonetheless, different iconic elements of what one would associate with the south west were included in numerous pieces. For example, take the last look. It has such a fantastic suede embroidery that elevates such a simple, chic top. Let's not forget the leather and belt. It works so well with the top. I'm also loving the lizard-effect print. Too cool. Below are my favorite looks.

Derek casted beauty blogger Emily Weiss for the lookbook. I'm not familiar with her work, but she's absolutely gorgeous. Plus, she looks fantastic in those clothes. The pajama lizard-print set would be ideal for this hot weather. It looks so light and effortless. The last look, by far, is my favorite. The embroidered top is already going into my S/S 13 list (no, you can never start too early with one of those ;P). The styling is just fantastic there. Last but not least, I wouldn't even question wearing that gorgeous dress in the second image. It looks absolutely chic and would be ideal for this hot, sunny weather. Overall, one of my top collections thus far.

That is all.

Fashion Week is Here! BCBG Max Azria Spring/Summer 2013

Can't believe it's already NYC Fashion week and the beginning of a month full of shows. One of the fantastic labels I always look forward to each ready to wear season is BCBG Max Azria. This season wasn't really my cup of tea, but I really do appreciate the fantastic collection by Lubov and her husband Max.
Immediately, it was quite evident that there was a sexy mood the collection was evoking. This was definitely identifiable with the abundance use of leather, lace, and those daring harnesses. I don't usually love harnesses (trust me, I see so many YouTube vloggers and street style images involving harnesses that just come off as failed attempts), but they definitely added an extra "oomph" many of the outfits. I absolutely adored this look below on Sara Blomqvist. The leather dress/overall piece sure did catch my attention and I'd love to style it with so many pieces in mind.

The accessories were a little lackluster and I feel as if I've seen those shoes before from prior collections. Nonetheless, they worked well with the collection. Love how the harness was used below.

The color palette was a bit dull, but I couldn't help but fall in love with this pastel orange color below on Kati Nescher's dress.

My absolute favorite look from the collection has to be this one on Ruby Aldridge. I just love the placement of the lace. Plus, I look a good tailored tuxedo jacket. Can't go wrong with one.

This look below is sublime. The leather cape could've been disregarded, but nonetheless it's a fantastic look. I can't tell if it's one whole skirt together or two pieces layered on top of each other.

This look below seemed a bit Valentino. Maybe that's why I'm loving it. lol

and can we PUHlease mention how Kati Nescher was the star of the show! The girl is pure perfection!
Overall, it didn't satisfy my expectations. Not really my cup of tea, but I due have to owe credit to the fantastic dresses. They're chic and have a subtle sexy touch to them. You can't go wrong with them.
