SURPRISE, BITCH. I'M DONE WITH FINALS

Okay, that honestly really needed to be fully capitalized. You have no idea how excited I am that finals and the semester are over. I feel like I put more effort this semester than previous ones, tbh. Whatever, it's over. I can focus on being a boss ass bitch and living la vida loca a.k.a. work and being a lazy bum. But the main point I'm trying to make is Winter break is here!! YASASSSSSSSSS.

Adios!

Metronomy - I'm Aquarius (Music Video)

So, I'm driving like a maniac to school the other day for a final and I somehow hear some song that's really catchy and it was giving me Metronony vibes. Idk, I was totes into it but couldn't shazam it because I was not in the mood to crash or receive a ticket. Anyway, turns out it was indeed by Metronomy AND it's their new single for an upcoming album AND here's the music video! :D

Okay, if this is as good as The English Riviera, then I will be all over this, hunty. Like, The English Riviera is so good that if you didn't consider it one of your top albums of 2011 then you're pretty much dead to me. But seriously, the song is quite catchy and I can't wait for the rest to come out.

OMG. US Elle January 2014 : Joan Smalls by Michael Thompson

Okay, when was the last time Elle US ever had a model grace the cover of one of their issues? I'm quite surprised to see an actual top model werqing the cover.
I'm not the biggest fan of Joan (I do like her tho'), but I think this is terrific and I honestly hope this has a domino effect on other publications. It's honestly refreshing to see a fierce model grace the cover instead of some vanilla, snoozefest celebrity talking about how they can't afford designer items (I'm looking at you, Kate Hudson) or about their relationships blah blah blah (Katy Perry, is datchu?). It's about time Joan nabbed a major US publication. Homegurl is on fire and I can honestly see her being like Gisele in the near future. Oh, and I couldn't be anymore happier since she's Latina! Latina, represent, gurl. From what I can see, she's slaying the competition in that gorge, metallic halter neck dress by Givenchy. Work it, miss thang. Can't wait to see a full, HQ quality image.

Gobble, Gobble (Thanksgiving Outfit Of the Day)

Okay, everyone PUHlease stand up and support yah gurl if you felt overwhelmed this past weekend with overeating thanks to Thanksgiving and from working pretty much the whole day for Black Friday. Ugh, I can't with life. FML, for real.
(Thanksgiving OOTD: Saint Laurent varsity jacket. Comme des Garcons PLAY striped shirt. Dior Homme by Hedi Slimane double wrapped belt. Gap black skinny jeans. Cooperative penny loafers from Urban Outfitters. Michael Kors rose gold watch. 3.1 Phillip Lim for Target bag)
But hey, I guess I'm making $$$$, yah know? I had a pretty fab time celebrating Thanksgiving at my oldest sister's house. Food galore, let me tell yah! I think I over did it on the mashed potatoes. Whatever, it is what it is. Anyway, I had to get home a couple hours after dinner and get ready since I had work from 12am-7am at my new job. After that, I rushed home for a quick nap that consisted of 5 hours and then went to work at my other job from 2pm-11pm. Even thinking about it now is making me cringe. How the hell did I even pull it off? I don't even know. Sigh, and I didn't get to partake in the madness that is Black Friday! No shopping for me. I suppose I'm saving on crap that I otherwise wouldn't have had any use for. But seriously, I hope everyone had a wonderful thanksgiving! Adios!

November 2013 Playlist

 photo 10d0afad-8ef9-403d-bee2-94936424817e_zps75df5ff4.jpg

Yes, another late playlist.
-cue in the eye rolls-
Anyway, the playlist is pretty much filled with some soothing, mellow songs. They're those songs where they're perfect while you're chilling or driving, yah know? I've been really into mellow, chill music (is that even the right description? lol) lately. There's lots of Sampha (ugh, I adore his voice) and some dancey songs by Cut Copy, Digitalism, and Major Lazer and some good ol' house tunes. I also discovered some really rad artists, like King Krule and Wookie. It's pretty much composed of good jams I'm lovin' at the moment. Enjoy!

1. Sampha - Demons

2. Sampha - Without

3. New Order - Age of Consent

4. Madonna - What It Feels Like For A Girl

5. Artful Dodger - Please Don't Turn Me On (Disclosure Remix)

6. Boris Dlugosch - Express Yourself

7. Beck - I Won't Be Long

8. The Chemical Brothers - Where Do I Begin

9. RAC - Let Go (Feat. Kele & MNDR)

10. Sky Ferreira - Nobody Asked Me (If I Was Okay)

11. Cut Copy - Meet Me in a House of Love

12. Wookie feat. Eliza Doolittle - The Hype

13. King Krule - Border Line

14. Arcade Fire - We Exist

15. Major Lazer feat. Flux Pavillion - Jah No Partial

16. Digitalism - Forrest Gump

17. Drake feat. Sampha - Too Much

18. Wordlife - Small Talk (Don Daneeka DTW Remix)

19. Dusky - Vanishing Point

20. Lorde - Ribs

21. Roisin Murphy - Sweet Nothings

Happy Thanksgiving, Everyone!

Saint Laurent Spring/Summer 2014 Menswear

...and Hedi does it again! Another stellar, rock 'n' roll, extremely appealing collection for Saint Laurent. I love how the collection is quintessentially rock 'n' roll and I could see looks referencing David Bowie (the opening look, anyone?), teddy boys, California cool kids, The Lost Boys, and glam rock. I love how the collection contained a mix of colors and prints in there, whether it was in the shoes or on a undeniably gorgeous, tailored jacket. For example, that checkered moto jacket on Fletcher Shears has my name written all over it while his brother sported a glam rock, colorful blazer styled with a printed black and white shirt. I love the use of embellishments, especially in the opening look and on that gorgeous bomber that has vampire fangs on the back. Mark my words, that piece is going to be everywhere next season. Did I also mention there's a cute look in there with a striped, cropped top styled with pvc pants and a oh so badass bandana? The styling was ON POINT here. Check out my favorite looks:

Song of the Day: Drake - Too Much ft. Sampha

Ugh, Sampha's vocals give me the chills in this song. Enjoy!

Olivier Theyskens Sketches for Theysken's Theory S/S 2012

Olivier is one of those designers that immediately had me gagging when I started getting into fashion because of how creative and breathtaking his clothes are. Remember the sublime creations for Rochas and Nina Ricci? Anyway, I love what he's doing for Theysken's Theory. I came across this interesting video of Olivier sketching looks for the Spring/Summer 2012 collection, which happens to be one of my all time favorite collections from the label. I always enjoy seeing designers creating their collections from scratch and how their sketches look. Seeing how their vision looks before they actually physically create them is quite fascinating, imo.

Sigh, if only I had those same sketching skills lol.

Nicolas Ghesquiere to be the new Creative Director at Louis Vuitton

YASSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS.
From WWD:
Ghesquière, 42, is to show his first collection for the French luxury firm next March.
Vuitton said Ghesquière would bring “a modern creative vision to the house’s women’s collections, building on the values of refinement, savoir faire and extreme quality.”
“Louis Vuitton has always incarnated for me the symbol of ultimate luxury, innovation and exploration,” Ghesquière said. “I am very honored of the mission that I am entrusted with, and proud to join the history of this great maison. We share common values and a vision.”
I was praying for my homegurl Nicolas to finally get his ass back to a huge fashion house because lbr, the man is a genius and needs top notch resources and then this is confirmed *tears*. Ugh, there definitely is a god. The fact that LV doesn't really have an exact image regarding it's pret-a-porter (Marc was all over the place, but in a good way), Nicolas has the ability to expand into so many ideas, at least I'm assuming he'll have a lot of creative freedom. Nonetheless, with Wang at Balenciaga, Hedi at Saint Laurent, and now Nicolas at Louis Vuitton, Paris Fashion Week is on a totally different level. Can't wait for next season.

Disclosure @ The Fonda Theatre

The fact that I was able to see Disclosure (2nd time this year) at the last minute a couple of weeks ago for free still feels so surreal.
 photo 9A2BBFC9-FF1B-4861-9F81-DEA1037E3152-2327-000002C831DF118E_zpsb11b7d9d.jpg
Here's a little brief history: Prior to the actual event, I had been persistently stalking Twitter and Craigslist for any floor tickets for the show (preferably on Friday). Alas, nothing came up. It either seemed too expensive for a ticket (I was already pushing it at $90) or the task of actually retrieving them and going to meet them just wasn't working well with some of the sellers. I was pretty close to giving up until I entered a giveaway for tickets on Twitter. Basically, my ass won, got ready within an hour, and immediately went to party the night away.

 photo 4C1FF368-620D-4722-A3F6-DB996E7BC618-2327-000002C8443DFCFC_zpsec4eecee.jpg
I took my friend Jordan and both of use seriously had such a flawless time. Although the tickets were balcony tickets, free tickets are free tickets. Yah feel me? I honestly didn't care where I was seated as long as I actually got to see them live again.

My god, that concert was totally epic. I was bitching the whole week about having to see them and then I actually win tickets to see them. Pretty crazy, right? Those two know how to throw a concert, for reals. Thanks Disclosure for the fabulous time!

p.s. Disclosure released a new track titled "Apollo" and it's so damn good. Enjoy!

Yes, trick, never treat. ;)
I know I'm late with the Halloween celebrations, but I've been consumed with school work that''s stressing me out. I'll be back to regularly blogging ASAP. I hope you had a flawless Halloween!!

Vogue Japan November 2013 : Karlie Kloss by Patrick Demarchelier + Editorials

Kloss the boss looks impeccable on the cover of Vogue Japan's November issue decked out head to toe in a rock 'n' roll ensemble by Saint Laurent shot by Patrick Demarchelier.
I love the pose and I also adore how cool she looks in that Saint Laurent chubby coat. Not only is the cover to die for, but I'm having a love situation with the content. First up, Tao's punk meets street editorial shot by Hans Feurer, who's becoming a favorite photographer of mine.

Wild In The Streets
Photographer: Hans Feurer
Model: Tao Okamoto

Styling: Anne Christensen

I love how his aesthetic is all about that girl on the go on the streets and always looking impeccably chic and standing out. Hans' photographs always consist of taking street shots of women styled perfectly and I simply adore it!

Next up is Chiharu's stunning beauty editorial with a badass punk theme. Have I mentioned that Chirahu is fast becoming another one of my favorites? Ugh, I honestly want to be as badass as her with that short hair every time I see her strut the runways.

Vogue Japan Beauty // The Destiny of Punk
Photographer: David Slijper
Model: Chiharu Okunugi
Styling: Tina Chai

Hair: Ward
Make Up: Virginia Young
Nails: Maki Sakamoto
Another badass editorial featuring one of Karl's new muses Ashleigh Good with exceptional styling featuring some of my favorite pieces from Hedi Slimane's grunge themed collection for Saint Laurent.

As the City Grows Dark
Photographer: Mikael Jansson
Stylist: George Cortina
Model: Ashleigh Good
Hair: Anthony Turner
Makeup: Mark Carrasquillo
Manicure: Rieko Okusa
It captures the spirit of the whole grunge attitude while still having Ashleigh look absolutely chic in those gorgeous outerwear and fur pieces. Let's not forget those Saint Laurent embellished boots have the sweet combination of being totally punk and edgy while still remaining incredibly luxurious. My favorite shot has to be where Ashleigh is sitting down in that room with the graffiti in the background, which totes compliments the look, wearing that impeccable Saint Laurent white fur coat with black dots  dots dispersed throughout. The somewhat dark mood it's evoking with the lighting just overall is captivating. Let's now give things a sweet spin with an editorial on the opposite side of the spectrum featuring Nadja Bender serving some princess realness in a gorge, high class setting.

Fun To Be The Princess
Photographer: Camilla Åkrans
Model: Nadja Bender
Styling: Sissy Vian
Hair: Franco Gobbi
Make Up: Wendy Rowe
Nails: Kamel
There's an editorial with Barbara Palvin and Stella Maxwell but I'm just not feeling it. It's too cute, Teen Vogueish for my taste. Ugh, then there's one with Lindsey Wixson and it's whatever, but you it's so evident that the styling was done by Anna Dello Russo lol. Miss Dell Russo is giving you full looks, hunty. Anyway, superb issue. Gorge cover and content that's immediately catching my attention. Well done, Vogue Japan.

Shine Bright Like a Diamond

It should be quite evident that I'm a sucker for anything shiny. I stumbled upon these bad boys on Instagram recently that could give a disco ball a run for it's money for being too shiny. Behold, the Pierre Hardy holographic leather sneakers.
Now, if you're a rich bitch, they're available for a mere $775 on Net-a-Porter.

Luxury - J.A.W.S. (Official Video)

Count me in on anything related to Disclosure (I believe they're signed to their record label, but idk). I first of heard of this track on Disclosure's essential mix and thus prompted an obsession with this track. There are countless of times I've played this track while driving around and it's pretty absurd, let me tell you. Well, the video is out and it's making me nostalgic for the summer. Surfboards, hot babes, and the good ol' summer. Oh, and I love the kaleidoscopic visuals throughout.

p.s. I wouldn't normally do this on here but if ANYONE comes across this and is selling Disclosure tickets to the Fonda theatre in Hollywood, puhlease let me know. Seeing them at HARD wasn't sufficient. Thanks!

Nadja Bender serving Edie Sedgwick Realness (Dior Magazine #3)

I adore Camilla Akrans' photography and her editorial for Dior Magazine's #3 issue is absolutely flawless. Photography aside, Nadja Bender easily looks like she could be Edie Sedgwick's twin thanks to the superb makeup, hair, and styling (kudos, Sissy Vian). Pat McGrath, are you responsible for the breathtaking beauty looks here? You just gotta love the Andy Warhol references as well.
Andy Warhol was indeed a reference for Raf's breathtaking Fall/Winter 2013 collection so I'm glad there's an editorial referencing both Edie and Warhol.

Chanel Spring/Summer 2014

I honestly didn't think Karl would outdo last season's "Around the World" collection, but I sure was wrong. This collection is giving me LIFE. The Chanel girl this season is a fierce, quirky, upbeat art school student that pretty much looks chic 24/7. The clothes had this slight school girl charm about them (that uniform-look on Joan is gorge!) while there also was a slight touch of prep (Grace Mahary's look with the backpack). However, overall it all seemed quite funky and artsy. It was evident by the colors galore and it was even emphasized with the stunning makeup by Peter Phillips that evoked an artists touch on the models (literally). The hair reminded me of paint brushes thanks to Sam McKnight's brilliant work.  Did I mention there really isn't tweed in this collection? According to Tim Blanks, those tweed-like pieces were hybrids from tulle and some other material/fabrics that were brought to life by multiple processes. Who would've known! The evening wear was quite stellar, as usual. One one side, you had gorgeous black and white looks that were quintessential Chanel. On the other hand, you had those rainbow galore dresses that were very fresh and new from Karl which immediately reminded me of pantone. It was very fresh, youthful, fun, and upbeat. The art theme with Karl's sublime designs worked perfectly. As for my favorite looks, I had too many:
One of the bests this season, without a doubt!

Laters!

p.s. Jay-Z's "Picasso Baby" was on the soundtrack (I know...pretty epic. Michel Gaubert doesn't disappoint I swear!) so put on your nearest rainbow bright ensemble and WERK it.
