Song of the Day: Major Lazer's "Get Free ft. Amber (Avicii Edit)"

Thanks to my friend Andreina, I've become obsessed with this Avicii remix of Major Lazer's "Get Free". So, so good.

She's been constantly playing it in her car whenever we're together.
Awe, and it also reminds me of San Francisco. I remember her playing this jam during our road trip there. I'm in the process of listening to Major Lazer's newest album (I KNOW, I'm SOOO late on this. Whatever). Better late than never.

FIRST LOOK: Marc Jacobs Fall/Winter 2013 Ad Campaign featuring Lily McMenamy and Edie Campbell photographed by Juergen Teller

Homegurl Katie Grand posted this little pic on Instagram of Lily McMenamy and Edie Campbell for Marc's F/W 2013 ad campaign all photographed by Juergen Teller.
Idk, I don't even know where to start. Like, all these current British models, which includes Edie Campbell, Lily McMenamy, and Cara Delevingne, have been some of the "it" models lately and there's no doubt that without their families and their iconic backgrounds, these girls wouldn't be opening all these top shows and starring in prestigious advertisements and publications. They just don't make sense as models, seriously. As socialites ala Poppy Delevingne, then I'd understand. Edie Campbell is the least one I despise and I actually love her look pre-horrendous black hair cut, while Lily is where I draw the line. I just don't get her look. I just don't. There's "having a weird look" ala Masha Tyelna (awww, remember her?), but thanks to her mama Kristen McMenamy, homegurl is the latest MJ star. Here's something to enjoy your morning coffee with, hunty ;).
AND
let's not forget this iconic moment at the Saint Laurent Fall/Winter 2013 runway show.
Yikes.

p.s. I NEED a flawless image of both of them wearing those fur collars/shawls/scarves. YASSSSSS.

Throwback: Nicole Spilling the T on the Simple Life

Remember the good ol' days when you were fat, would come home and watch the Simple Life and The O.C.? And you would pig out while watching aspirational Mischa Barton (hey, this was back in the early 2000s mmmkay!) having breakup sex with Ryan Atwood and then have 80% of your time dedicated to watching Nicole Richie and Paris Hilton werq the fucking streets of bumfuckville? Sigh, those were the days. Thanks to that, we have true gems like this:
Sigh, I miss those good ol' days. My life consisted of pop culture galore, house music, fast food, and being a nerdy student with straight As.
Sigh, indeed the good ol' days.

p.s. You know what, I should pull a Simple Life marathon one of these days! It's been long overdue.

Chanel Resort 2013 Singapore

This had all the Chanel-isms: The shoes with a different colored toe, the pearls, the camellia flowers, the logo bracelets, and the chic black dresses. Another quintessential collection from Chanel. While that may seem well, that's my issue with it overall. It's that Karl didn't quite expand the Chanel codes and didn't do something artistic and sublime like he usually does for his collections, especially for resort. Last resort dealt with creepers, pastels, colored wigs, and Napoleon Bonaparte, but this felt like it lacked that strong energy that last resort had. It just felt like he didn't try, to be honest. However, Karl produced a chic, sellable collection that I'm sure will appeal to many.
It just felt like I've seen it all before. It's not stale, but it didn't excite me as usual. Now, can we take a minute to talk about the new version of those espadrilles that come up to your ankle. Now those I'm looking forward to next year. I need them.

Overlookin' Sunny Hollywood

Remember how I mentioned earlier about my love/hate relationships for school assignments pertaining to field trips? Well, guess where I went for my geology class assignment? The Griffith Observatory, like duh!
 photo 9E2A0C20-487C-4D2A-AB1D-54A238652BAC-712-00000035E13FEEC5_zps152d2e91.jpg

I think it's quite bleak that I have been living in Southern California all my life and I've never been there. I mean, I like to take pride in knowing a lot about my city, but yeah I should receive a slap on the hand for never have gone here before. I was in dire need of some extra credit for my geology class and so I decided to make a quick visit here. I had no one to go with, but luckily my friend Manny tagged along. I told him Adriana Lima and Behati Prinsloo were going to be at the VS store located at the Beverly Center (more on that later), so we would go after my little educational trip at the observatory. It was indeed an incentive for him to come along with me, I suppose lol. We found this fantastic wall covered in brooches and both had a little twin moment and immediately thought of Galliano for Dior. It was the glamorousness of it all that embodied Galliano for Dior, no?

If you're wondering "what the hell do brooches and astronomy have in common?", don't worry. Well, there's no correlation lol. BUT, it was a model that stretched out throughout a long wall that showcased the process of the Big Bang and the formation of other planets with the use of brooches as a visual aid. It was pretty rad, actually.

After that, Manny and I went downstairs to view the exhibit that dealt with planets and earthquakes. This was ideally what I was looking for for my assignment. After that, we went outside for a little viewing and some obligatory pictures.

Gorgeous view, no?

It was one of those almost-blistering hot days, so I went for an easy, I-don't-care kind of outfits. Knowing beforehand that I'd do lots of walking, I had no doubt that my converse sneakers were the best shoe decision for that day. Sneakers are always ideal when it comes to walking. Accessories were kept light and fun with my Alexander Wang bag and rose-gold accessories.

Manny and I then went around the corner to overlook Hollywood from another side of the observatory. I thought this shot was stunning.

After being there for what seemed like hours, we had about an hour until the Adriana Lima/Behati Prinsloo event at the VS in the Beverly Center ended. My idiot self didn't even comprehend that it was currently 6 pm and that traffic is the worst at that time here in Hollywood. Sigh, I'm so bad with time management, let's be real. By the time we got to the Beverly Center, parking was such a hassle. We ended up getting there 30 minutes before the event ended. We quickly walked to the location inside and we were both in a world of bliss when we found where the line ended. We ended up getting in line and unfortunately a security guard told me to step out because they had cut the line! Ugh, the audacity of that woman. I begged, cried, and pleaded with her to let us in but she was not having any of it. Ugh, I hope karma gets her. I honestly dedicate Radiohead's "Karma Police" to her. UGH. Seriously, I had so many questions for Adriana and Behati.
Whatever.
We'll eventually meet one day when I'm a stylist and I'm working for a prestigious magazine.
I do feel sad because that's practically the only reason Manny tagged along. I'l eventually make it up to him, but I sincerely feel horrible for getting there too late.
Ugh, let's just pray I somehow get to meet a top model soon and have a gossip session with her about interesting, fashion topics. It's a bucket list must!

Christopher Kane Embroidered Velvet Backpack a.k.a. Bag of My Dreams!

I am salivating at how beautiful this backpack is. Not only is it velvet, but it's embroidered and it's sublime. Let me tell you, I haven't been this awestruck in quite some time. The black, blue, lavender...OMG.
I mean, this screams "next semester's school bag". God, I would pair it with a black turtleneck, black skinny trousers, black loafers, and black wayfarers.
Unfortunately, it's 990 Euros on Brownsfashion.com. That's probably around $1200, I think. Whatever, it'll be mine in my dreams. Or maybe I'll pull a Veronica Mars/Zach Braff and start a kickstarter to have lovely people support my materialistic obsession lol.

Thee Oh Sees - No Spell

I'm quite sure it's been more than 20 times that I've listened to the new Thee Oh Sees album titled Floating Coffin. One of my favorite tracks has to be "No Spell"
Rad Album. Enough said.

Current Favorite Accessories and Update!

To be honest, I haven't really been playing with my accessories as of late. Actually, it's been quite some time that I haven't really taken an interest in really coordinating/styling my outfits with different accessories. I've been in a very minimal, effortless, and easy mindset when it comes to them. However, i've been relying on three different pieces. My current, top three that I've been constantly sporting and pairing with my outfits are these below.
 photo CF7E466F-DD08-44A5-AA7E-9F94D383DB65-712-00000033C9B4EA67_zps4d443725.jpg

(Alexander Wang Brenda mini camera bag. Rayban wayfarers. Rose-gold bracelet)
That bag is small and easy for those on the go. The only issue is that it's in a bright red, so it absolutely makes it hard what to pair it with. The bracelet I feel goes with so many of my clothes, especially since I'm currently keen on black and navy blue right now. Plus, rose gold is everything for my at the moment. The wayfarers are just one of those pieces that go with everything. Ever since those 80s films I've loved growing up watching thanks to my sisters, I've grown to have such an admiration for this particular style. I'll always find them cool and effortless.

UPDATE!
Also, I feel like my makeup techniques have improved tremendously. It's so funny because I feel like I've replaced my obsession with fashion with makeup lol. I feel like I can wear stale outfits as long as I have an immaculate put together face. I've been going for a more Andrej Pejic/androgynous kind of look as of late.

I don't even know what that means lol. I'm letting my hair grow longer thanks to Zach Robinson aka the flawless bitch from the Saint Laurent mens runway show for Fall/Winter 2013 aka drummer from the band Swim Deep.
Oh, and good news! Lately, things have been going really good. Like, really good. I was going through a tough time ever since my father had to be hospitalized earlier this year. Thankfully, he's doing much better now and it's as if he never had surgery with his successful recovery. Lately, things are just going great. I feel good, I'm getting so many opportunities lately too. I just got a new job, I had an interview yesterday with a superb brand that is sold at Barneys, and I got another interview for a job for a fantastic brand next week. My only issue is balancing all these things out. With time going by so fast, I just hope I can accomplish so many things before the summer ends.

Let's Take a Vacation with Arizona Muse!

Let's pretend that we're actually at this location with Arizona Muse, in this fabulous editorial titled Girl-Bud for the Vogue Russia May 2013 issue, forgetting about baby daddy drama (right, Arizona? lol) and werqing Christian Dior and Kenzo pieces! Seriously, if I could be anywhere right now, besides Hawaii for vacation, this is the place! This is IT!
Oh, just Arizona on the beach trying to steal yo' man with her impeccable body.
Arizona taking a brief minute to think about how fucking amazing her vacation is right now...
That divine background...
This shot below is one of my favorites in this set of images. The cat-eye glasses is styled perfectly with that dress that has such a fantastic spring/summer print. Don't even get me started on how the the stunning lavender flowers add a charming touch to the image. Tom Craig captured Arizona relaxing, looking, impeccable, and showcasing the beauty of nature in the background and that all makes me want to be there having a fantastic vacation. Sigh.
Ugh, if you're not jealous of this below, then you're clearly not normal...
And that's that. Now, let's get back to reality.

The Queen Has Arrived at LACMA

Yes, this queen. Lol.
I have a love/hate relationship with field trip assignments that my university classes demand. However, I chose to go to LACMA (Los Angeles County Museum of Art) for my Creative Expressions class' field trip assignment, which I had no doubt about having a fun experience there. I've been to LACMA a couple of times before and it's always fun to go there, especially on such a beautiful, sunny day during the week. I specifically based my assignment on the fabulous, inspiring Hans Richter exhibit titled Hans Richter: Encounters. I brought along my friend Kelvin to also catch up on a few things.
(OOTD: The Ramones band t-shirt. Vintage flannel. Rose gold bracelet. Alexander Wang bag)
There as an abundance of art pieces that caught my attention. Here are some of my personal favorites:
(Hans Richter - Blue Man "Blauer Mann", 1917)
Never actually having a significant amount of background information regarding Hans Richter, it was good to go with an open mind about what I was going to see. The exhibit showcased his fantastic works in all the mediums he worked with, including film and paint. Unfortunately, I was too enthused with the exhibit that I wasn't able to capture more of his work. Seriously, if you're in the Los Angeles area, take a visit to LACMA and check out the exhibit. It's brilliant!
Besides Richter's work, I decided to check out the other galleries at LACMA. From a fashion point of view, I thought this was piece below was fantastic. I love the use of embroidery and cubism combined together to create such an enticing piece. It's all about the details.
(Adya van Rees - Hourglass "Sandahr", 1914)
I feel like Missoni could've easily done something quite similar to that, no? lol. I thought this Picasso piece was quite lovely.
(Pablo Picasso - Young Woman in Striped Dress, 1949)
Completely floored by how stunning this was in person. Pictures don't do it justice, you have to see it in person to see how visually stunning this painting is.
(Stanton Macdonald-Wright - Synchromy in Purple, 1918-19)
If you're in the Los Angeles/Hollywood area, I definitely recommend you to check the Hans Richter exhibit. Even just stop by to check out the other amazing work there by Picasso, Warhol, Jacques Villon, and other visionaries.

xoxo.

p.s. UGH, the day after there was an event with Olivier Theyskens, YES, Olivier Theyskens from Theysken' Theory, for a Q&A/Speaking event. Sigh, but I had a final during the same time as the event and unfortunately would've have been able to make it. Last year I had the chance of meeting James Franco and Emma Roberts by being background filler, but finals interfered and now I missed meeting one of my favorite designers because of finals once again. ~sobbing~

The 2013 Billboard Music Awards Best Dressed : Miley Cyrus in Balmain Spring/Summer 2013

You have to give the title "best dressed" at the Billboard Music Awards to Miley Cyrus. Not only has homegurl been slaying the competition with flawless red carpet ensembles lately, but she has the body to werq each and everyone of them. She looked divine in her Balmain embellished, crochet jumpsuit from the spring/summer 2013 collection.
And the flawless makeup. WERQ, hunty!
 Dat ass...
I think I'm the only one that thought Ke$ha looked chic in her Givenchy ruffled dress. The gold tooth she sported was another issue, however.
(Anna Selezneva werqing that fierce jumpsuit at the Balmain spring/summer 2013 runway)
My other favorite celebrities include Taylor Swift in her Muhrad dress and Selena Gomez in her white Atelier Versace gown that had subtle neon touches.
