The Golden Touch

This Saint Laurent bracelet has been on my wish list for the past couple of months! I'm actually quite puzzled it's still available on Net-A-Porter.
It's one of those accessories I could easily see myself styling with countless of outfits. It's timeless. My main accessories lately have been my Michael Kors rose-gold watch and a rose-gold cuff, but they're both such a distinct color that it's become quite hectic finding what to style my outfits with accessories. Did I mention I've been hating my other accessories? Everything seems either too gaudy or utterly stale. Gold and silver will forever be two main staple colors to accessorize your outfits with and that's why this bracelet is ideal for me. Did I mention it's $295? Even better!

Beauty Post! Current Items I've Purchased!

Are you one of those people that gets a kick whenever YouTube gurus, friends, or beauty experts rave about their current faves or about certain products they've purchased? I sure do. I don't know about you, but I find it fascinating learning what others are using or beginning to use especially when their skin is undeniably exceptional. With that in mind, I decided to post a some of the current items I've purchased and have been using for the past 2 weeks. Let's begin!

Dsqaured2 Spring/Summer 2014 Menswear: Bronzed Boys and Tropical Realness

Dean and Dan Caten both outdid themselves this season with a caliente show full of beach, bronzed men serving some hawaiian realness. I'm getting a very Lord of the Flies vibe from this, but obviously with hot men and an impeccable wardrobe thats' full of fun, ultra-chic pieces in fantastic prints and tropical colors. While a lot of it did remain quite simple, I thought the styling and details were divine. For example, the Tiki embellishments on a few tops were vibrant and fun. I honestly think both Catens were some of the only designers this season that were able to translate the floral/Hawaiian trend flawlessly into ideal summery pieces that would look breathtaking on a fabulous beach in Miami or Hawaii. The designers are known to take themes and elevate those themes by literally implying them with their runway sets. Campy? Yes, but it's refreshing when so many labels are practically dead when it comes to their shows. While many designers have an issue by creating sets that might appear a tad bit gimmicky, Dean and Dan created a set that was overall a knockout. It sublimely complimented the clothes and made me dream of wearing those impeccable colorful swim trunks or Benjamin Eidem's dapper and chic ensemble in a hot, tropical, divine location. That's the thing about fashion, it has the ability to allow you to dream and escape. Pieces of clothing have the ability to allow you to escape from the tumultuousness of reality. This collection and show undeniably provides that. I might not have the option of celebrating summer in a fantastic location like Ibiza or Hawaii (a girl can definitely dream), but these clothes provide an escape and that's what a brilliant designer and label is capable of. Bravo, Dean and Dan. Seriously.
The opening look immediately set up the runway show: Bronzed, Island-stranded boys and a hot wardrobe.
This look is a bit too much, but I'm not even going to lie...I think it's pretty cute! It's fun! Werq that skirt!
And thank you very much, Dean and Dan, for giving us eye-candy.
These are some of my favorite details:

I'm Just Trying To Be Cool

First and foremost, have you seen Phoenix's new music video, in collaboration with the Creators Project and Spanish video directors Canada, for Trying to Be Cool? Actually, did you see the jackets featured in the music video? NEED, WANT, LOVE.

Okay, but let's seriously go back to the music video. I love how they mixed it with Drakkar Noir. I love the randomness of the different things the band is doing throughout the video. I guess it's their attempts at Trying to Be Cool, no? ;)

Also, major kudos to the big synchronized dance scene in the end and for incorporating more of the guitar/making it more evident than the original song. I've said it before and I'll say it again, this song is seriously one of my top songs of the summer!

p.s. I honestly hope they somehow create and sell these jackets. I can already easily envision myself wearing it with a fantastic pair of Saint Laurent jeans for a very badass look.
UPDATE: Look at what I found on Twitter!

You're Making Me Cry, Alexander Wang

OH MY GOD. If you've been living under a rock, then you probably missed out on the ecstatic news that one of my favorite designers, Alexander Wang, held a mystery event in Nueva York this past weekend (I think it was Saturday to be exact) and the first 100-150 people or so in line had access to unlimited, FREE, YES FREE fucking FREE, pieces of T by Alexander Wang clothing. I first heard about this on Tumblr then I read it on NY Racked and the fabulous, chic folks over at NY Mag reported it too. Sigh, I'm devastated 'cause I would've LOVED to have had the option to attend it but my unfortunate self lives in caliente California. Here are a couple of photos of I was able to gather of lucky people nabbing some flawless clothes. Umm back to school outfits, anyone? One word: WERQ.
(Photos from NYMag.com and NY.Racked.com)
Now, can we all have a prayer circle and hope that an identical event will happen in Los Angeles? Alexander Wang, if you're reading this make it happen!

Dsquared2 Spring/Summer 2014 Mens Beauty Look

I'm beyond obsessed with the bronzed/sunkissed look featured on the Dsquared models during the Spring/Summer 2014 collection. Gorgeous, no?
I just love the sunkissed, natural glow the models had. It's absolutely ideal for the summer. It looks so good here:
I thought it looked fantastic on Benjamin Eidem. It looks healthy and gives a nice glow to his face. Plus, he looks more gorgeous than ever with it.
Seriously, who doesn't want a subtle tan for the summer? Now, the issue I have is with bronzer and how to apply it. I think this calls for a shopping date with my gurl Manny who happens to know everything when it comes to makeup and applying it. I know, I know...I'm such a bad gay. I know the 411 on BB cream, foundation, even mascara but not bronzer. Sephora trip, anyone?

Costume National Spring/Summer 2014 Menswear: The Urban Cowboy

Costume National has to easily have been one of my favorite collections from the recent menswear shows. I normally love the label's new wave aesthetic, but this season they took an iconic American inspiration like the "cowboy" and made it darker, urban, and very rock 'n' roll. Let's also not forget the fantastic Italian tailoring. The leather pieces were everything. There's particularly a biker jacket with fringe that's screaming my name. There's also a classic biker jacket that screams effortlessness and it's oh so cool. Last but not least, I'm screaming at how fabulous the footwear is! Those gold and white boots are amazing. Costume National definitely disappoint this season. My favorite looks below:

The Balenciaga Spring/Summer 2013 Look for Less

The end of Summer is almost near and I think I'm the only person that hasn't tried to find replicas of the rings from Balenciaga's Spring/Summer 2013 collection (R.I.P. Balenciaga under Nicolas) and tried to duplicate a look from the runway collection. They're one of those accessories that defined the season.
Well, I think I might've found something quite close to the originals that are probably 1% of the price. These awesome gold rings from ASOS are adjustable and they're only a mere $13.58.
I honestly remember someone commenting on The Fashion Spot about how ASOS came out with literally exact copies of the Balenciaga rings, but unfortunately were gone a day after ASOS put them up. My thoughts are that they were too close to the originals and the folks over at Balenciaga found out and shut down the whole thing. Yikes. There were so many frugal fashionistas disappointed online, including myself. Sigh, but these current ones online will do, no?
